Economic Security? Exactly what is that?

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” – Matthew 6:33-34

“That is to say, the word slave will never be used; for it is always easy to find an inoffensive word; but he will be admittedly a man legally bound to certain social service, in return for economic security.” – GK Chesterton

Is the US headed for another depression: Deflationary or inflationary ? The only serious question in the mind of Doug Casey columnist for UK “The Daily Reckoning” is whether it will be essentially deflationary in nature, as it was the case in the US in the 1930s, or inflationary like in Germany in the 1920s. My guess is the latter because the government is so much more powerful today. Or it could actually be both at once, in different sectors of the economy. I think whatever your predictions of the economy over the next few months, you have to admit there is anxiety in the market place. The funny thing is that what we do as road crew has always been unstable. In fact, if you happen to be in the business you know that there simply is no security in this grand and lofty business. The old adage that you are just as good as your last tour is something I learned early on to be true. I have never had any faith in the music business or the economy,or, for that matter my good health. Too many surprises in life have given me a whole new (and I believe; realistic) perspective on life. I have learned to live one day at a time, and live it to it’s fullest, whether on the road or at home, and trust God with the rest. As my dear friend, Barry McGuire, has always said “it has been a good run”, I have to agree w/ him.
