Sign of the Times
“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory – Luke 21:25-27
“If I knew the Lord was returning tomorrow I would plant a tree” – DL Moody
So here we are in a world that is badly shaken and reeling with one wave of bad news after another. Unfortunately, man’s inclination to panic in a crisis is just exacerbating the situation at hand. Can the next president turn the economy around in this county ? To hear politicians speak, “of course they can”……..When it comes to today’s media there is a credulity which would be the envy of every witch doctor in Africa. Our blog is non-partisan and, although we have our own convictions and candidates we strongly support, we are not trying to convince anyone of which candidates to vote for, that is an individual decision. We are, however, tying to convince people to do their homework and then stand up for their own convictions. After all this is America, land of the free……..
Now to the concert business, which is something we know a little more about. It isn’t that healthy, either, Pollstar, which tracks concert sales in the U.S., says the business held flat during the first half of the year. That’s supposedly a victory given the weakening economy. But the numbers are actually less encouraging: Total ticket sales dropped 5.6%, to 16.9 milllion, offset by a 5.9% price increase. The problem is well-known inside the business: Attendance has been dropping for years, and the only way the industry has been able to show growth is by jacking up prices for a handful of aging acts.
If there a future ? Yep, it’s just not in our hands and it is time to reevaluate our lives and the current direction we are heading, as Dylan so aptly put, “gonna change my way of thinking”,
